FAQ

The questions owners ask before they sign up

Auto-posting sounds easy until you actually have to trust it with your brand. Here's what current clients asked before they signed — and how it shook out.

Pricing & ROI
How does the monthly cost compare to hiring someone?
A full-time social media hire runs $3,500–$5,000/month loaded, plus benefits and management overhead. A freelancer is closer to $1,000–$2,000/month but you'll spend more time editing their drafts than the cost savings justify. FeedEngine plans run $99–$399/month, content included, no management tax. The trade-off is no in-house strategist — which most local businesses don't actually need day-to-day.
What ROI should I actually expect?
Honest answer: it depends on whether you act on the inbound. Clients typically see 2–5 new bookings or enquiries per month tied to Instagram within the first 60 days, driven by hashtag discovery and consistent posting cadence. The bigger ROI is reclaimed hours — most owners were spending 4–6 hours per week trying to keep a feed alive; that drops to roughly 30 minutes of weekly review and approve.
Your time
How much of my time does this actually take each week?
About 20–30 minutes per week. Mason drafts your posts (image + caption) over the weekend, drops them in your portal Sunday night, you review on Monday morning, click approve or leave a comment asking for a tweak. No scheduling tools to learn, no captioning from your phone in the parking lot. If you don't log in for a week, nothing publishes — we hold everything until you've signed off.
Photography & assets
Do I need to send you photos? What if my camera roll is empty?
No — and that's the point. Each post's image is generated for that specific caption, so it doesn't depend on whatever happens to be on your phone. If you DO have great shots you want used, the client portal has a dropbox where you can upload and Mason will incorporate them where they fit. Most clients end up sending 3–5 photos a month — the rest is generated to match.
Content quality
Will AI-generated posts actually sound like my business?
The first draft won't — that's why you review every post before it goes live. Mason tunes the voice based on a short intake call (your menu items, your shop's personality, the off-the-shelf jokes you do or don't use), and gets sharper over the first few weeks. Nothing publishes without your approval, so a bad draft is just a comments-note away from a rewrite. Most clients say the third week is when it starts feeling like them.
Instagram hashtags & voice
How do you match my brand voice? Which hashtags do you use?
Onboarding includes a voice questionnaire and a look at any existing posts you want to keep the feel of. From there Mason keeps a running style guide for your account — sentence length, signature words, things to avoid. Hashtags are a mix of local geo tags (your city + neighborhood), vertical tags (the ones your customers actually follow), and a few reach tags — and they get rotated weekly so Instagram doesn't flag the account for repetition.
Cancellation
What happens if I cancel? Am I locked into anything?
No contracts, no cancellation fees. Month-to-month — cancel any time from inside the client portal and you're done by the end of the current billing cycle. We don't keep your account hostage: any posts we've drafted that you haven't approved yet are yours to download. Most cancellations happen because the owner wanted to take content back in-house, not because the service was bad — and we're fine with that.
